I was asked by a friend why I would donate when my country,
Alex: *The us has pledged 100m . I know u work by the book so why donate? Ur goverment just did it 4 u I donated a few monies but thats only cuz ive never paid taxes here*
I feel that it should not be the tax payers paying for this. That is simply not the job of the government. I disagree with it. However I do believe that it is the job of private charities like the Red Cross to give aid in times like this. I also believe that the American people not government have a responsibility in the world community to lend a hand when & however possible. If we dont then that is socially irresponsible of us. As for our military being used over there, I have no problem with that because they are protecting our interests and people over there. We have the best trained first response force in the world and the last thing we need is a social unrest at our door step. This leads to future problems for us and the rest of the region when a county fails. If we can give them the support they need to allow the Red Cross and other organizations in so they can do their jobs safely then not only have we made another ally but a friend in our world community. I believe in Life & Liberty for all.
